GEM Equipment of Oregon, Inc. was founded in 1968 as a manufacturer of custom food processing equipment for the vegetable industry. The focus on fryers began with the first, successful French Fry Fryer order in 1985. Today, GEM Equipment designs, builds, and installs the largest French Fry Fryers and Blanchers available for the potato industry. In 2023, FPS Food Process Solutions, a global leader in turn-key food processing solutions, acquired GEM Equipment, offering food processors a wide range of solutions, starting with the French Fry/Specialty potato lines. The FPS global family includes subsidiaries Charlottetown Metal Products (CMP), Total Solutions Ltd (TSL) and GEM Equipment of Oregon (GEM).
