Mission Statement
GEM Equipment has a mission to make a profit by providing processing equipment designed to meet the customer's needs for specific applications.
History
GEM Equipment was established by George Everts and Ed McKenney, early in 1969, with $8000 start up capital, a $15,000 US Bank receivables credit line, a borrowed office, and credibility with the Willamette Valley metal working industry and Pacific Northwest food processors. Because 1969 was one of the worst years in history for Pacific Northwest food processing capital investment, the company got off to a slow start. Initially all production was farmed out. After about three months, the company had an opportunity to rent a corner of a 60 by 100 foot wood framed metal fabrication shop. A large order, received in mid October, established the need for the whole shop. General Foods and Ore-Ida made the first year's success possible.
